Tinkerbell’s Story
We purchased Tinkerbell at the age of 4 months from a breeder who had planned on keeping her to breed. She decided that she was too small to breed and put her up for sale on her website. After seeing her precious face, we decided to go see her. I told my children ahead of time that if the place didn’t look like what I had read to look for in a good breeder, we would not buy from them. I was not impressed by what I saw when we drove up. My instinct was not to purchase from her but when she brought Tinkerbell out, whose name was Vixen at the time, I held her and my better judgement left me. The breeder was concerned about us buying Tink because we had a dachshund at hom e and they can sometimes be unaccepting of a new puppy. I assured her that Heidi was a sweet dog and got along well with other dogs. We took her home with us that night. She was no bigger than a 12 ounce soda can. She immediately took to all of us and she and Heidi got along well. Tink instantly started to act like the jealous younger sister and wanted whatever attention that Heidi was getting.
The next day I took her to the vet and they said that she was not very healthy and recommended that I take her back to the breeder. Her heartbeat had an occasional irregularity and she had worms. We were already attached to her and my youngest daughter, Kayla, made a good point that if we take her back she may end up dying. At this point in time, I believe that is what would have happened to her. I decided to keep her and take whatever came our way and hopefully we would get her well. She ended up having coccidia and had to take multiple rounds of medication for that. We would think she was over it and then would start back with the symptoms and after having her checked, she would still have it. After a few months of this she had a rough 3 or 4 weeks of having diarrhea. She would get put on medication, start to get better until she was taken off the medication, and then diarrhea would come right back. After many visits to the vet with only short, temporary success, out of desperation I decided to search the internet for natural remedies. I came across a website www.vitalityscience.com, and thought I would try their products. I called them and had the products sent overnight to me. She got back on the medication at the same time she started these products and again the diarrhea stopped. But this time, when she came off of the medication and stayed on the natural products, she did not get diarrhea again. The only difference this time were the products that I purchased from vitality science. I believe that they calmed her stomach down and straightened out what was going on inside of her. I don’t know how much longer she could have continued like she was, because when you only weigh 2 to 3 pounds, you can’t afford to keep diarrhea. Not to mention her little behind was staying raw and sore. The t hings we do for our pets! Now Tinkerbell loves to play and boss Heidi around, especially when there is food involved. This is a picture of Tinkerbell as a healthy chihuahua.
