Heidi's Story

This story will be short and sweet!  After losing our 15-year old dachshund in January of 2005, we were not ready for a new dog for a while. Even after a few months passed by my husband was still against getting another dog.  After about 3 months Kayla and I were starting to get the urge for another dachshund.  We were visiting our locally-owned pet store and saw some dachshund puppies.  Kayla kept pestering me until finally we held one (the cutest one of course).  I knew the owners of the store well and asked them if I could "borrow" the puppy to take home and see how my husband reacted to it.  They said okay so we took her home.  My husband was not very happy that we brought her home for him to see.  He didn't pay any attention to her until I was getting ready to take her back to the store.  At that point he irritably said "let me hold her".  He held her for a couple of minutes and then put her down in the kitchen to let her walk around.  His only comment was "she has a big head".  I knew this was his way of letting me know that I would not have to live in the camper if I kept her!  He quickly became fond of her and spoiled her as much as, if not more than the rest of the family.  She has turned out to be a great dog and was easy to house-break.  I was not working when she was a puppy which made it easy.  She has a great personality and we love her dearly.  Just because there are not as many pictures of her doesn't mean we don't love her as much as Tinkerbell, it just means she hates to be dressed up and have her picture made!   Because of her colors, she does not show up very well when we do try to get pictures of her.  She is by far a better trained and behaved dog than Tinkerbell!
